Projet Global Biodiversity Framework - Implementation Madagascar (GBF-implementation)

Description
The GBF-Madagascar project is part of the Global GBF-Implementation project. A Global project mandated by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ with funding of 12 million euros and co-financing from Norway with a contribution of around 5.1 million euros through the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). The project is being implemented as part of the SPANB gas pedal partnership. The aim of the overall project is to help selected partner countries build their capacity to implement national biodiversity targets and support priority actions to achieve national targets. The project began in 2023 and ends in 2026. Partner countries are Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Madagascar, Laos and Indonesia. For Madagascar, the project began in 2024. The project's cross-cutting themes include strengthening women's participation, and transformative gender approaches based on biodiversity. The project also works closely with all governments and representatives of civil society, young people and local communities.
